Video et taceo

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I often wish that I had paid more attention in my History classes as a kid because as an adult I am fascinated by various periods of history.

Tonight, on TV, I was completely spoilt with history-related shows.

'The Diary Of Anne Frank' on BBC2, starring no other than Tamsin Greig of Black Books and Green Wing fame, weird, but still brilliant. I think I have missed a few episodes of this and I must catch up because I thought it was incredibly interesting.

On Channel 4, 'Time Team', in which the legend that is Tony Robinson was in Ireland with a team, excavating a village or town from the bronze age. It amazes me how they can possibly know that the village was there at that time, and one day I will read up on it, but I trust Baldrick on this one.

Following that was 'The Real Dad's Army'. The two world wars fascinate me more than anything. I don't know what it is, morbid interest perhaps, but I can't get enough of stories from the trenches, or stratagem put in place to combat the Germans if and when they invade, or how Anne Frank and her family hid. Anything, everything. I only wish that my grandparents were still alive so that I could ask them for their memories and stories.

Thirdly was the film 'Elizabeth'. I love the way people acted in this age. The manners, the dress. I know it's all how we choose depict it, and they say only the rich write history, but I like it. I've just been reading about Elizabeth, actually. The Tudors were a subject covered in Primary school, and I have forgotten everything.

I think, if I ever go to Uni, I should like to take English Literature with History, as both are loves of mine.

Do you plan to go to uni? You seem passionate about what you've posted.

Eventually, yes. I want to travel first though and maybe go to Uni in my late 20s when I would stick at it better.

I didn't check until a few minutes ago. I'm honoured you read my blog and thankyou for the comment. You also like FF7 don't you? If you click on the video clip on my blog called 'Zacks Death, Clouds pain' I think you'd enjoy. It's tragic but beautiful. It's not a cheap way to make you come back to it, I just want as many people, especially like you, to share it.
